Crock pot , Pot Roast

Well I'm sooo excited ...I didn't have a crock pot and was having to make everything the old fashioned way which takes too long and took away some of my options for meals.

So God must have heard my prayers because for Christmas I received a crock pot from my mother without even having to ask for it.

So for my first meal I decided to make a pot roast so with the help from my sister and my taste buds I made a simple pot roast.(this was a small meal for just 2 so you may need to double the recipe)
Ingredients:
2lbs pot roast
1/2 pack onion powder
1 quartered onion
4 quartered celery
2cups of quartered carrots
1tsp salt/1tsp pepper or substitute season salt

Preheat your crock pot to high heat
Season roast on both sides with salt and pepper
Brown your pot roast on both sides
take a place your veggies in the crock
place browned pot roast on veggies
sprinkle onion powder all over top
then sprinkle beef broth on top
then just sit it out for 5 hours or if you have higher patience you can cook on low heat for 10 hours which allows the meat to be more tender.

Enjoy there's more to come
Also please send some of your crock pot recipes

2010 Blessings

I like to keep a "prayer book". It's just a book of the names of people and their prayer requests, so when I pray I'll remember exactly what my friends or family needed prayer for. I also write down my own prayer requests. Anyhoo, sometimes I can get overwhelmed with an issue that I'm going through at the time and it helps if I count my blessings. Today I am going to make a book just to write down some ways God has blessed me. Here are a couple to start.....

1). My family was blessed with a beautiful dresser set. A friend I met at church no longer had need for her beautiful, new looking dresser set and offered it to us, FREE OF CHARGE! It was such a blessing to us because we REALLY needed dressers and good ones are a bit pricey, so it was a need that we had and God used our friend to meet that need.

2). I spoke to my cousin, whom I hadn't heard from in over 17 years. I moved from Alabama to Colorado when I was 12 years old and completely lost contact with my cousin, whom I had a VERY, VERY, close relationship with. Well....through my sister we were able to get in touch on New Years!!! God is so good!

God has blessed me in so many ways and it feels so good to look back and see what our Awesome God has done in my life and the life of my family.

God Bless

Daily Chat

Welcome 2010!!!!! Yay, it's here!!!! There's something special about straring a new year. It feels like a new start in other areas of life too. I welcome those New Years Resolutions! How did everyone bring in the new year? I can never stay up that late, so I slept in tghe new year. I guess that means I'll have a well-rested year:-) We did stay up a little bit later playing Monopoly and eating chocolate cake. You can't welcome a new year without cake:-) I was just trying to get my cake in before the diet begins. Let's get to the good stuff, here's my resolutions for the new year:

1). Go to church on Wed. nights (for most people this is not a biggie, but I'm usually in bed before the service is over, but I know it's so important and helpful)

2). Lose 20lbs. (I'll do this by doing The South Beach diet and working out 5 hours a week. Also, I bought some ankle weights to wear during the day while doing chores)

3). Increase our offering at church

4). Save for a family vacation (about $50 a month. It's a fun but pretty inexpensive one)

5). Watch my words with my husband. Only say what I mean.

6). Speak more kindly with my children when I'm tired and frustrated.

7). Tell my family everday that I love them, even if they're being quite unlovable:-)

Well, those are my resolutions.  This morning I woke up and was so thankful to God for this brand new day, this brand new year, this brand new start. It was time to test out that "diet resolution", we're off to a good start. I made vegetable quiche cups for breakfast. They were super yummy so you know I can't hold back from sharing.

                                              Vegetable Quiche Cups

1 10oz. pkg of frozen spinach
6 eggs
3/4 c. cheese
1/4 c. diced green bell peppers
1/4 c. diced onions

Microwave spinach to thaw out. Spray muffin pan with non-stick spray. Combine eggs, cheese, peppers, onions, and spinach. Mix well. Divide evenly among the muffin cups. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 min.

Good luck to you all with your resloutions this year and I hope your year is filled with many blessing and time well spent with the Saviour.
